In the last few years Netflix has really become a big thing between us sisters. Living in different households and we somehow manage to be watching the same movie or the same tv series at about the same time! For example, when I (Lindsay) was on bed rest during River's pregnancy ... Karly, Patsy and myself binged on the tv series One Tree Hill & Friends! Also, Ashley and I fell in love watching the series Scandal! We would all be texting each other "what episode are you on now?!" Always, trying to get ahead of the other (everything turns into a competition at our house)! So with that being said we are now "Netflix & Sisters" not just Netflix & Chill.
January 2016 Top 3-5 must watch list from each Sister: Lindsay's List: The Ridiculous 6 - featuring Adam Sandler and other comical actors. They're brothers from different mothers and they have questions for their dad. Cory and I watched this together, he loves anything Adam Sandler! It's so stupid, it's funny! If you need a good laugh watch Ridiculous 6! The Best of Me - based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks. I recommend any movie or book written by Nicholas Sparks. I love love love this movie, it's definitely a tear jerker! High school sweethearts from two different life styles, grow apart then later on in life meet up again! Their passion for each other is about to get a second chance. I personally wish the ending was different but other than that it's a movie you can watch over and over again and not get tired of it. Fixer Upper (HGTV series) - Cory and I watched all of these episodes together! Loved Chip and Joanna how they took run down houses and fixed them up. Took things you never would of expected and turned them into something awesome. Makes you want to remodel your "own" house! Which makes your husbands "to do" list 10 times longer. Bounce - featuring Ben Affleck and Gwyneth Paltrow, this is a romantic drama. Buddy (Ben Affleck) gives his plane ticket to another man. When the plane crashes, Buddy is wracked with guilt and seeks out the man's widow. (I randomly picked this movie one day and I actually enjoyed watching it, bonus Ben Affleck is a Hottie!) The Christmas Card - On leave from war, and army sergeant tracks down the sender of a Christmas card addressed to "any soldier", falling in love with her. Once again another movie that I randomly picked to watch! (This is a clean movie). Very sentimental and romantic, a fairy tale ending. Ashley's List: New Girl: This is the first show I have ever completely finished watching on Netflix. Jess goes through a 'rough' breakup and moves in with 3 single guys: Nick, Schmidt and Winston. If you are looking for a good laugh and some quality movie quotes to apply to your every day life...this is the one to watch. Also, they just added a new season! Grey's Anatomy: I told myself I would never start this series but one day it happened and I could not stop. I'm sure we all know what it is about because it has been around for 15 million seasons now. I am at the point where I can guess what is going to happen, (trauma in the ER, sex in the on-call room, break ups, new doctors, McDreamy, etc,) and I feel so connected with the characters (only kidding). The only downside about this series is...David got addicted with me so now I can only binge watch it when we are together. So ...I will sometimes go 3-4 days without watching an episode. How I Met Your Mother: I just started this series because Karly told me about it. It is hilarious and I want to know who Ted ends up marrying. Overall, the story line is funny and I catch myself laughing out loud which is rare when I watch tv. Ted is the main actor and he is explaining to his kids about how he met their mother...and he doesn't hold back. "SUIT UP!" Making a Murderer: David and I just started watching this because a while ago I saw an article on the Business Insider and I mentioned to David that I wanted to watch this. Well come to find out, it was a hot commodity. We are only on Season 1, Ep 3 ......so that is that. Very sad story. One word to sum up people on this earth: cruel. Karly's List: One Tree Hill: This is my all time favorite TV show on Netflix! It has nine complete seasons that goes through the lives of these high school kids to their young adult lives. It is full of never ending drama that keeps you wanting to watch more. It is filled with evil, love, happiness, sadness, success, failures, and anything else you would encounter in real life. How I Met Your Mother: Brianna Buehler, one of my friends from school, recommended me to watch this show and I have fallen in love with it. Like Ashley said you will sometimes catch yourself laughing out loud because it is so funny. One thing I also do enjoy about this show is the episodes are only 22 minutes long so if you need something short and sweet that is funny, this is the show for you. Prison Break: I started this TV show back in November during Thanksgiving Break and it is very intense. There were many times I would literally drop my phone into my lap and cover my eyes because something disgusting or crazy was happening, but yet I would still find myself peeking between my fingers trying to see what was going on. Although I have enjoyed the first two seasons I have found myself slowly moving through season three where the show kinda feels dragged on. Otherwise I feel it is very action filled and keeps you on your toes the whole time! Pretty Little Liars: This is yet another very intense show. Many teen girls tend to watch this since it revolves around four high school girls who is trying to figure out who "A" is after one of their friends disappear. I have watched all five seasons on Netflix and they are airing season 6 on TV now. It is for sure a nail biter and always leaves you hanging and wanting to watch more. Patsy's List: Scandal: I started this TV show at the beginning of last year. Everyone has secrets... Olivia Pope has dedicated her life to protecting and defending the public images of the nation's elite by keeping those secrets under wrap. Pope's team are at the top of their game when it comes to getting the job done for their clients. I have only watched 2 out of the 4 seasons because I get so addicted to other great shows. Grey's Anatomy: Ashley was home watching this show, when it all the sudden looked interesting and exciting. Like Ashley said it has been around so long people should know what it is by now. On Grey's Anatomy there are many times where I cant wait what surgery they are doing or what person they have to fix up this time. I am only on season 6 of 11 seasons. These episodes are about 50 minutes long each but I try my best to fit as many as I can in a day. One Tree Hill: This season I began watching around 8th grade year about the time when Karly was watching it. Lucas and Nathan alternate between kinship and rivalry on the basketball court and in the hearts of their friends. These seasons are full with laughter, love, and craziness throughout the seasons. It took me one entire summer to watch all 9 seasons because I couldn't stop after one episode it just kept leading onto the next one. Well, there you go our January top pick movies and shows! So if you are in need of a movie or a tv series, check these out! Netflix & Sisters

With the beginning of a new year comes new year resolutions, new habits, new challenges, and the making of a new you. The year of 2016 is going to be a year for the books for me. I firstly will be graduating from high school this May along with starting college in the fall. 2016 is going to be the end of an old chapter and a beginning of a new. At the beginning of a new year many people say "Today is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Write a good one." (Although it should be 366 days since it is leap year). But instead of writing a book this year I want to go back to just reading a book. I have found myself lately choosing to watch Netflix, being on my phone, and trying to stay caught up with school and my social life (not that I have a social life anyway) over just sitting down and reading a book. My family used to never have wifi, smartphones, or Netflix which basically forced us to read just so we could pass time with some type of enjoyment. So this year I am challenging myself and all you readers to the 2016 Reading Challenge. I have found two different reading challenges from Pinterest that are shown below. So pick one and start reading! Enjoy!
-Morris Gal #3 Last Monday the Lakewood Volleyball Program wrapped up the 2015 season with a banquet. It was an evening full of traditional volleyball food, laughter, and tears. For the seniors it was the end of another chapter. From the first day of open gyms to the last match of our high school career Charlie and I have been through it all. From the highs and lows and the in between we have accomplished and learned so much from this game. Career Highs 1. State Championship 2012 2. State Runner-Up 2014 3. WMVOA Gold Champs 2015 Career Lows: 1. East Kentwood Power League 2015 - Played absolutely awful and had to go back to the high school that evening to practice. 2. Districts vs Wayland 2013 - End of sophomore season 3. Quarterfinals vs Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard - Last career match Losing in post season wasn't a career low where we played absolutely awful like at East Kentwood but it was always devastating to see another season come to an end. One thing I love about the game of volleyball is you can't accomplish anything unless you work as a team. My teammates pushed me to be the best I could and demanded lots out of me as a leader and player. Starting as a freshman (playing under the wing of the seven seniors) I was a defensive specialist playing left back. My sophomore year I moved to an outside hitter playing full rotation. My junior year I played libero and lastly I finished off my career as an outside hitter once again playing full rotation. (I literally played every position besides setter.) Every season I was thrown into different roles and positions. Because of that it not only challenged me to increase my skill set but to also grow mentally as an athlete. As many of you know I'm not the loudest and most out there person but on the court it was different. This game taught me to be vocal and lead whether it was controlling defense or demanding from my teammates. I can only imagine how many hours I have put into this sport. From the open gyms in the summer, to the lifting/plyo workouts, to three hour practices throughout the week and all day Saturday tournaments I would take it all back in a heartbeat. Everyday in practice we would complain about doing a full set of plyos and a full set of foot movement, but after its all gone you even miss those drills. Then you have those drills like cross court line, three on three back row, and 3 man combo that you would love to do again. The drills that everyone enjoyed and got intense in and made the gym loud are the ones that made practice fun. I also loved the feeling of being pushed to the max and sweating through t-shirts knowing you are improving every time you walk into that gym. I'm thankful I was able to experience something so great and so memorable as Lakewood Volleyball. I may have had to sacrifice many different things throughout my high school career because I was either off practicing or playing in tournaments but in the end I don't regret ever choosing volleyball. It has taught me so many life lessons that I couldn't learn in the classroom but only in the gym. It's these lessons that help you grow as a person and hopefully help you succeed in the real world. Lastly, I will always miss the tables full of tournament food, dancing to music in the hallways, and playing Little Sally Walker. And even all the superstitious things like having that bag full of all your jerseys (I personally always carried 16 different ones), using that certain sweat towel for games, and always wearing your hair the same for games. It's the little things like those you will miss the most. I have also gotten to know so many different girls throughout my four seasons of volleyball. They made each season unforgettable and I will miss them all greatly. Right along with this I would like to thank all my coaches who helped form me into the athlete I am and for all the hard work and dedication they contributed to the program as well. I would not be who I am today without them all. Although this chapter of my life has come to an end I'm excited to say that I will be continuing my volleyball career at the collegiate level playing at Aquinas College. Another four years of volleyball coming my way! Go Saints! - Morris Gal #3 Traditions ... I love being able to carry on my family traditions to my children, so they can enjoy all the "memory making" things I did with my sisters when we were younger. One of my favorite traditions is: Every year the weekend or two before Halloween we all get together at Dad & Mom's house to carve pumpkins. This includes the "boyfriends" we have/or have had ... so if you are at the house you are guaranteed to carve a pumpkin. We lay out multiple pieces of newspaper on the hardwood floor, use about every kitchen knife possible and 2 buckets for all the pumpkin guts! Some of us, spend a lot of time prepping and preparing what we'll carve on our pumpkins, others just use the apple corer ... hmm (Karly). So our official pumpkin carving tradition is taking pictures together after we carved our pumpkins. Here are some of our: "Sister Pumpkin Carving Throwbacks" 2011 2013 2014 2015 Have a Happy Halloween! ~Lindsay Grace Monday....the day everyone dreads. And why is that?
1. It's the beginning of a long work/school week. 2. Still tired from a weekend of activities. 3. The stress of not completing all your homework over the weekend. 4. There are four days between you and Friday. There are about 52 Monday's every year and most people dread this day of the week. Instead of continuously dreading this day 52 times a year why not make Mondays your favorite day of the week. Easier said than done right? Well my Monday isn't looking to pretty either.... Downside to my Monday: 1. AP Calculus Test ("Let's all just fail together") 2. Did not memorize all my Shakespeare lines for AP Lit 3. Still tired from homecoming weekend 4. Dreading volleyball practice As we all go on our Monday endeavors let's forget about all the downsides of today and start looking forward to Friday (even if there is a camel in the way). Enjoy the Monday humor below from Pinterest! Happy Monday ya'll! -Morris Gal #3 What's a jersey chaser?
A girl that chases boys with jerseys right?.... kidding! It's actually a name that Ashley calls me because I wear a boy's football jersey for the Lakewood football games. What girl wouldn't want to wear some varsity football player's jersey? Like come on, it's every girl's high school dream to wear one. Well I don't know about every girl. But honestly, why do some girls want to wear those big, stinky, stained jerseys so badly. Does it make us look cool? Do we wear one because you and the boy are dating? Or do we just wear it because all of our friends are wearing them? I honestly don't know. I guess that is for us to figure out. Last year I wore jersey #77 and this year I'm reppin' #9... same boy though just different jersey number. Although wearing a football jersey may be fun there are pros and cons to the situation.... Pros of wearing jersey: 1. Already know what you are going to wear for the games and to school on Fridays. 2. The jerseys are comfy and we seem to feel important/cool wearing one. 3. Allows you to show support for the football team. Cons of wearing jersey: 1. They are super long and take forever to tuck in. 2. Everyone in high school wants to know whose jersey you are wearing and every detail about the two of you. 3. The hassle of always having to switch jerseys so the boy has the right one to wear for the game. In the end though I will never regret being a "jersey chaser". And finally a plot twist: Instead of the girls wearing the football jerseys why don't the guys wear the girl's volleyball jersey? -Morris Gal #3 Throughout life we experience many firsts and many lasts.... Well today was my last first day of high school! Last time picking out that "awesome" first day of school outfit. Last time feeling that hint of excitement and nervousness the night before that you can't even fall asleep. And last time for the first day of school picture before you walk out the door. Everyday I walk through those high school doors is one day closer I am to graduation. It's bittersweet but exciting knowing I am almost done with this chapter of my life. This year though I was lucky enough to start my last year in high school with my younger sister. I'm so thankful we are able to enjoy one last year together before I head off on new adventures. We not only have our lockers right next to each other in school but we also play on the varsity volleyball team together. So, all and all we will be spending a lot of time together inside and outside of school... lets just hope we somehow find a way to always get along (because everyone knows sisters always find something to fight about even if it is something simple). I'm excited to see what this school year has to come for us and I hope everyone had a spectacular first day of school!
And since I always quote movies.... Adventure is out there! -Morris Gal #3 Hi everyone! Lindsay here! I figured why not start a blog ... since I'll have two kiddos in school starting next week. Ashley liked the idea and we ran with it. (More like I set it all up and they fill in the blanks) Well for Karly and Patsy we just dragged them into it! Why not?!?! Four sisters all in different stages of life, this could get fun and interesting.
